UFC 89 BISPING vs LEBEN

Sign Up Click HereSpike TV will carry UFC 89 on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. The event, the promotion’s third inside Great Britain this year, will feature a middleweight duel between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben.

Michael "The Count" Bisping is climbing back up the Middlewight ladder after two wins. The first was a round 1 TKO against Charles McCarthy in UFC 83 and second a round 1 TKO against Jason Day in UFC 85. Bisping holds a 17-1-0 MMA record.

He is 29 years old; weighs 185 lbs, stands at 6'2" and is fighting out of Cyprus, Manchester, United Kingdom. The Count has a superb standup with extreme fitness, heart and can adapt to any situation with ease.

Chris "The Crippler" Leben is back on top after two consecutive wins. He knocked out Terry Martin in the third round in UFC Fight Night on September 19, 2020 and had a first round TKO against Alessio Sakara in UFC 82. The Crippler has an 18-4-0 MMA record. He is 28 years old; weighs 185 lbs. and stands at 5'11". Leben was born in Portland, Oregon and is now fighting out of Oahu, Hawaii. He has strong punching power and a great chin.

In a light-heavyweight fight, Sokoudjou will battle Luiz Cane in a battle of heavy hitters. Highly touted heavyweight Shane Carwin will return to the cage to battle the UK's Neil Wain, and in a welterweight fight, Dan Hardy will make his UFC debut against decorated Japanese fighter Akihiro Gono. Along with a welterweight bout pitting Marcus Davis against Bisping’s undefeated teammate, Paul Kelly.

Undefeated in professional competition, Kelly will be making his second start in the Octagon at UFC 89. He defeated fellow Britain Paul Taylor at UFC 80 and will be putting his 7-0 record on the line against Davis.

Davis lost his most recent bout, a unanimous decision at the hands of American Kickboxing Academy’s Mike Swick. Prior to that fight, he had been on an 11-fight winning streak. Although he is an American, Davis has a strong Irish heritage and has fought his past four fights in the U.K.

UFC 89 from Birmingham, England, featuring a match between middleweights Michael Bisping and Chris Leben, will be televised free on Spike TV on Oct. 18 at 9 p.m.

UFC 89 will be taking place at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England on October 18th. This will be the promotions second visit to England in the past couple of months UFC 85 was held in London.
