UFC 86: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin

Additional bouts for the pay-per-view event include Joe Steveson vs. Gleison Tibau, Frank Mir vs. Justin McCully, Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida, and Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Lytle.

UFC 86 Betting Odds

UFC 86 betting odds were available early for the main bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Forrest Griffin.

Jackson has won 6 of his last MMA fights, including 3 consecutive wins in the UFC. Rampage's first victim was Marvin Eastman as he defeated him via KO-punches in the second round at UFC 67. Thereafter, he was able to acquire the UFC light heavyweight belt when he knocked out Chuck Liddell in less than 2 minutes of the first round at UFC 71. He then added another belt to his list when he stole Dan Henderson's PrideFC 205lbs. belt at UFC 75-Champion vs. Champion.

Now, Rampage is forced battle it out against a very difficult opponent who has worked extremely hard to get to the top. For the first time in his career, Griffin has been given a chance to win the 205-pound title. Griffin has won 3 of his last 4 fights against top UFC contenders including Stephan Bonnar, Hector Ramirez and Mauricio Shogun.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will take on Justin McCully at UFC 86 on July 5 in Las Vegas. Frank Mir (11-3-0) last stepped into the cage at 81 defeating Brock Lesnar by submission in the first round.

McCully (8-3-2) has not fought since April of last year, due to an injury that forced him off a scheduled bout at UFC 77. McCully’s last win came at UFC Fight Night 9 where he defeated Antoni Hardonk by unanimous decision.

A lightweight bout pitting The Ultimate Fighter 5 cast member Cole Miller (13-3, 2-1 UFC) against The Ultimate Fighter 2’s Jorge Gurgel (12-3, 3-2 UFC) has been booked for UFC 86 event.

After being eliminated by Joe Lauzon in the quarterfinals of “The Ultimate Fighter 5, Miller defeated Andy Wang and Leonard Garcia inside the octagon before losing to Jeremy Stephens via round two TKO at UFC Fight Night 12 in January.

Gurgel was eliminated in the fifth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 2 by Jason Von Flue but returned to make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 5. Despite losing to Mark Hominick in his debut bout, Gurgel returned to secure back-to-back wins over Danny Abbadi and Diego Saraiva. Gurgel suffered his second UFC loss in October against Alvin Robinson at UFC 77 but bounced back with a unanimous decision win over John Halverson at UFC 82 in March.

UFC 86 “Rampage” Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin Results

Forrest Griffin upset light heavyweight champion Quinton (Rampage) Jackson on Saturday night, winning a five-round unanimous decision at UFC 86.

Griffin (16-4) used his movement, reach and kicks to slow Jackson (28-7) and survived the champion's power shots in an action-packed mixed martial arts fight at Mandalay Bay Events Center.

The judges scored it 49-46, 48-46, 48-46 for Griffin.
