UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva
Date: January 2, 2020
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Venue: MGM Grand Garden Arena
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (13-1-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) and Brazilian knockout artist Thiago Silva (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will headline UFC 108. UFC 108 is presented by “Bayonetta” and live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2020.

Silva is coming off a thrilling first round knockout victory over Evans’ teammate, Keith Jardine at UFC 103 last month. Apparently Silva gave Evans a nasty look as he made his exit from the octagon and that’s all that Evans needed to get his juices flowing for this match-up.

Silva (14-1) is fresh off a win over Keith Jardine at UFC 102 last month. The American Top Team fighter holds a 5-1 UFC record, with other notable octagon wins over James Irvin, Tomasz Drwal and Houston Alexander. Also of note, Silva has finished all but one of his 14 career wins including 11 coming by TKO or KO.

Rashad Evans has been out of action since losing his title at UFC 98 to Lyoto Machida via brutal 2nd round knockout, it was the first loss for Evans in 15 career fights. As a matter of fact it was Machida who also handed Silva his first career loss back in January at UFC 94. Neither Silva nor Evans had an answer for “The Dragon”, Silva was knocked out with just one second remaining in the first round.

Evans, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has notched wins over some big names in the division, including knockout victories over Chuck Liddell and then-champion Forrest Griffin. The former Michigan State University wrestler has won 18 of his 20 pro fights, including a draw against former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz.

Also, a lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout has also been reported for the January 2nd fight card and a middleweight fight between Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama has been rumored for 108 as well.
