at Bethpage State Park. Farmingdale, CA.

US Open 2009 Results - Winner Lucas Glover

After Ricky Barnes missed an 18-footer for birdie, Lucas Glover sank his 3-footer for the victory. His 3-over 73 was good enough to outlast various challengers. Overall, he shot 4-under 276. When the ball fell in, he took off his hat, smiled and searched for his family.

David Duval tried to take the loss in stride. He hadn't had a top-10 finished in seven years.

Lucas Glover made it on the green in two shots. Sort of. His ball, 24 feet from the hole, rested on the collar, going from left to right With his parents and wife, Jennifer, waiting patiently, Glover knocked it to within 3 feet.

Ricky Barnes, trying to put pressure on Glover, had the proper read on his 18-footer. The ball lipped out.

David Duval closed out his U.S. Open with a 1-over 71. He parred No. 18. He's in the clubhouse tied with Phil Mickelson for second.

Lucas Glover heads into No. 18 in good shape. He has a two-stroke lead. He stood on the par-3 17th green looking at a 20-foot putt. He knocked it close, leaving about 3 feet to go for a par. He converted for par. Ricky Barnes (-2) set up a par chance from 2 feet away.

On No. 18, David Duval , from the first fairway cut, sent his approach shot to the back part of the green, which left 24 feet to the hole.

Woods beats Mediate on 19th playoff hole to win US Open

Angel Cabrerahe 2008 U.S. Open is finally over, the winner is Tiger Woods, after the playoff went into sudden death. All day people asked who won the U.S. Open and for hours we were nowhere near answering the question. The 18-hole playoff began with both players scoring a bogey, Rocco Mediate on the 1st hole and Tiger Woods on the 4th. Total of four bogeys and four birdies were exchanged during the U.S. Open playoff by each of the contenders and the result was an even 71. As per regulations, following the playoff and still no winner - the game went to "sudden death" - a hole-by-hole matchup. The first sudden death playoff was on the 7th (4 par) and Tiger Woods went for par, but when it was Mediate's turn - he fumbled and finished the first sudden-death playoff with a bogey, giving Tiger Woods the 2008 U.S. Open victory.

2007 Us Open Golf Results

Angel CabreraOakmont, Pa. – Some have called the beast known as Oakmont Country Club hellish, even devilish.

Few, if any, of the competitors at this week’s 2007 U.S. Open would say it was a trip to heaven. But late Sunday afternoon, the venerable western Pennsylvania venue, which had befuddled and exasperated the world’s best golfer, was touched by an Angel. That’s Angel Cabrera, the first South American to ever get his name engraved on the U.S. Open trophy.

The 37-year-old from Cordoba, Argentina, who took up the game at 15 at the urging of fellow countryman Eduardo Romero, managed to not only survive the 7,230-yard, par-70 layout, but also fended off two of the world’s best players to register a one-stroke victory.Cabrera’s final-round 69 was good enough to hold off World No. 1 Tiger Woods and No. 3-ranked Jim Furyk.

His second 1-under round of the championship – he opened with 69 on Thursday – gave him a 72-hole total of 5-over 285, the same winning score Australia’s Geoff Ogilvy posted a year ago at Winged Foot. It’s also the first time Cabrera, a three-time champion on the European Tour, has ever won in the U.S., and he’s the third consecutive U.S. Open champion who hails from a country south of the Equator. New Zealand’s Michael Campbell took the title in 2005 at Pinehurst and South Africa's Retief Goosen won in 2004 at Shinnecock Hills.
