UFC 106: Lesnar vs. Carwin
When: November 21, 2009
Where: Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada
How: PPV

UFC 106 will feature a heavyweight title fight between current champ Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin, that will take place at Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title holder Brock Lesnar has battled his way to UFC stardom by dominating some of the best heavyweight fighters in the world and has yet another stern test to face.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, Lesnar will have to pick on someone his own size when he takes on the undefeated 6-foot-3, 262-pound top contender Shane Carwin at UFC 106. Also on the card, one of the brightest stars in UFC history returns, as former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz battles UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman in what promises to be a ground war of epic proportions. This will be Lesnar's first title defense after unifying the UFC's heavyweight belts with a UFC 100 win over then-interim champ Frank Mir.

Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin

Beach Bad Boy” Tito Ortiz would be returning to the UFC after over a year-long absence. Ortiz is coming off major spinal fusion surgery to correct a back problem that has bothered him for several years. He signed with the UFC last month to big fanfare at an announcement made during a recent UFC conference call following the demise of Affliction.

“The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” has not won since an October 2006 victory over Ken Shamrock, suffering losses to Chuck Liddell and Machida as well as a draw to Rashad Evans following the win.

As for Griffin, he was last seen sprinting to his locker room after he was knocked unconscious by UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva with the most vicious and devastating walking-away jab the Octagon has ever witnessed.

Since that humiliating loss at UFC 101 in August, Griffin has stayed below the MMA radar. He recently took a break from training to tie the knot to his long-time girlfriend, so things aren’t all bad for the popular slugger.

However, Forrest does need a win pretty badly, especially if you take into account he’s gone a mundane 2-2 over his last four outings.

Also on the fight card, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, the brother of former Pride and UFC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, will make his Octagon debut at UFC 106 against Luis Cane.

Nogueira recently signed a multi-fight contract and will finally rejoin his twin brother, UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, in the UFC. The two fought side by side in Japan for the Pride promotion.

Nogueira (17-3) is currently riding a five-fight win streak, which includes wins over Edwin Dewees, Vladimir Matyushenko and most recently Dion Staring at Jungle Fight 13 back in May. He hasn't tasted defeat since losing to Sokoudjou at Pride 33 in February 2007.

Cane entered the UFC having been unbeaten in the first eight bouts of his career, which included notable wins over Maurice Igor and Bellator veteran Damien Stelly. The four-year veteran sports an almost flawless overall MMA record of 10-1, with 9 of his wins being by stoppage.
