UFC 103: Franklin vs Belfort
Date: September 19, 2009
Time: 10PM ET/7PM PT
Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

On September 19th, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, Belfort returns to the Octagon for the first time in over four years to take on former middleweight champion Rich Franklin in the light heavyweight main event of UFC 103.

Vitor Belfort, just 20 years old, blasting through his opponents with blistering hand speed and power. Belfort, who has won four straight, has scored KOs or TKOs in seven of his last eight victories, proving once and for all that “The Phenom” is back.

A win for Franklin would put him one fight away from a light heavyweight title shot, whereas a loss will signify that Franklin is merely a talented fighter who can’t beat the top guys. As for Belfort, a win will make him a superstar to casual fans and set him up for a run at the middleweight title, while a loss could put him in a legends re-match of sorts with somebody like Randy, Chuck, Wanderlei, or Tito.

Mirko Cro Cop Vs Junior Santos
Brazilian Heavyweight Junior Dos Santos hopes to continue his fight to the top of the MMA world with a victory over feared striker Mirko Crocop.

Cro Cop made his initial return to the UFC a successful one at UFC 99 as he stopped Mustapha al Turk by TKO in the first round, while dos Santos is 2-0 in the UFC with first round TKO’s over the likes of Fabricio Werdum and Stefan Struve to his credit.

In addition, a fight between veterans Martin Kampmann (15-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Mike Swick (14-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) will determine the next challenger to UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

Prior to the back-to-back wins, Kampmann had his nine-fight win streak snapped after getting wrecked by Nate Marquardt in short order via bruising first round technical knockout at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” back in September 2008.

Swick is currently riding a four-fight winning streak of his own in the welterweight division. Swick is coming off a second-round TKO victory over Ben Saunders at UFC 99 earlier this month. Swick is 9-1 overall in his last 10 fights.
