The BCS National Championship Game or BCS title game is the final bowl game of the annual Bowl Championship Series and is intended by Series organizers to determine the NCAA Division I-A national football championship. The game was first played at the conclusion of the 1998 College Football season after the Big Ten and Pac 10 conferences and the Rose Bowl Game joined the members of the former "Bowl Alliance" to form the Bowl Championship Series. The Bowl Alliance and its predecessor, the Bowl Coalition, featured championship games from 1992 through 1997.

The National Championship Game for 2006 was sponsored by Tostitos. It was played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on January 8, 2007 and broadcasted by FOX television network. The game featured the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and the #2 ranked Florida Gators. Florida won by the final score of 41-14. Allstate will sponsor the 2008 game between the #2 LSU Tigers and the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes. The game is scheduled to be played in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 7, 2008 to conclude the 2007 season.

Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego has played host to several Super Bowls and is the regular home of the NFL's San Diego Chargers. The game has a tie-in with the Naval Academy, as San Diego is a city with several naval installations, creating a natural fan base. Game day support and marketing are also provided by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The Motor City Bowl is set to take place at the home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, on December 26. The Holiday Bowl is an annual college football postseason bowl game played in San Diego, California. Officially it is know as the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, since the insurance company took over sponsorship. Former sponsors include Sea World, Culligan, Thrifty Car Rental, and Plymouth. The current game is played between the no. 2 team in the Pac-10 conference and the no. 3 team in the Big 12 conference.

Played since 1978, the Holiday Bowl was the stage for what Brigham Young fans refer to simply as the “Miracle Bowl” in 1980, when BYU overcame a 20-point deficit to Southern Methodist (SMU), winning the game at the last moment. BYU would win a national championship in 1984 in the Holiday Bowl, the only such occurrence in a December Bowl game. The structure of the college football post-season would be changed due to that very game.

Qualcomm Stadium, site of the Holiday Bowl, is also the home of the San Diego Chargers, and holds over 71,000 spectators. The Emerald Bowl is an annual college football bowl game held at AT&T Park (home of the San Francisco Giants) in San Francisco, CA. The Truck Stops Bowl, or Humanitarian Bowl, is an annual postseason college football bowl game played in Boise, Idaho. Held at Broncos Stadium — home of the "Smurf-Turf" blue playing field, teams from the Athletic Coast (ACC) and Western Athletic (WAC) conferences square off in a battle to determine Boise's best. Previous sponsors include MPC Computers and Crucial.com. Invitations to the game have been turned down by teams such as UCLA in 2001.

The Humanitarian Bowl is played at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The stadium is on the campus of Boise State University, and is well recognized for its blue playing surface. Boise State has the most appearances at the Humanitarian Bowl with four. They have won three of the four games, and have an incredible record on their home field.

The 2006 game featured Miami versus Nevada, in which Miami would win 21-20 in Hurricanes coach Larry Coker’s last game as head coach. The Insight Bowl is an annual postseason college football bowl game played in Tempe, Arizona. The game features teams from the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences. The bowl game was played in Phoenix and then moved to Tucson before settling at its current location in Tempe. The Cotton Bowl is one of the most historic bowl games in the history of college bowl games. The Cotton Bowl classic has been played for more than 70 years. The history of the Cotton Bowl classic is long and distinguished. From the very first game, in 1937 between TCU and Marquette, the Cotton Bowl has been full of action. And the Cotton Bowl has also played an important role in helping to shape college football's landscape. In 1964, an undefeated Texas squad beat Roger Staubach's #2 Navy team to claim their first National Championship. The Longhorns again won a National Championship in 1970 when they defeated a Notre Dame team led by Joe Theismann. But the Fighting Irish got revenge on the Longhorns when Joe Montana led them to a 38-10 victory, and a National Championship, in the 1978 game.

During its long history many great players have played in the Cotton Bowl. From Sammy Baugh, of TCU, in the 30's, to Y.A. The Gator Bowl is an annual college football bowl game held in Jacksonville, Florida. Starting in 2007, the game will feature the third place team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) against a team from either the Big 12, Big East, or Notre Dame as an independent. The game is held at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, home of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. The game’s official name is the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl after the game’s main sponsor, a Japanese electronics company.

First played in 1946, the Gator Bowl is one of the oldest college football bowl games. The game was played from 1946 to 1993 in the old Gator Bowl Stadium in Jacksonville before various moves brought the game to the Jaguars’ home field. The storied bowl game has showcased such NFL talents as Archie Manning, Earl Campbell, Thurman Thomas, and Donovan McNabb. It is also notoriously the site of Ohio State Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes clothes-lining of a Clemson player on the sidelines in 1978.

The Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, site of the Gator Bowl game, holds 84,000 spectators, and sits on the footprint of the original Gator Bowl stadium. The International Bowl is an annual postseason college football bowl game played in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Since the Bacardi Bowl, played in Cuba in 1937 between Auburn and Villanova, the International Bowl is the first college bowl game to be played outside the US. The City of Toronto has tried twice since 2003 to host a bowl game, hoping to boost American tourism to the city after the 2003 SARS outbreak.

The first International Bowl game was played in 2007 between Cincinnati and Western Michigan. Cincinnati won the game 27-24. The bowl game is to be played between teams from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and the Big East. The Big East is to be represented by its fourth place team.

The 9th Annual GMAC Bowl is set for January 2008. This year's GMAC Bowl will feature teams from Conference USA (CUSA) vs. the Mid American Conference (MAC) or Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

GMAC Bowl Betting Matchup: Last season, it was UTEP and Toledo battling for the GMAC Bowl.
